Tsamang Gewog

Tsamang gewog consist of four villages with 218 households. The gewog has an area of about 144 square kilometers and has a population of about 1204. Due to rugged terrain and scattered settlement, delivery of services is difficult and costly. Lack of road and distance to market inhibit farm innovation and productivity. However, the construction of Yongkola- Tsamang farm road has benefited the public at large.

Maize, buckwheat, wheat and paddy are cultivated for home consumption. Cash income is mainly from dairy products.

The gewog has one primary school and two community schools with about 291 children (as per 2006 record). Two Basic Health Units (BHU) and one Out Reach Clinic (ORC) render basic health services in the gewog. With about fifteen drinking water supply schemes, around 65% of the households have access to piped drinking water supply.
