Chaskhar Gewog

Chaskhar Gewog consists of seven villages with 457 houeholds and a population of over 2376 people, covering an area of 53 square kilometers. The gewog has gentle and fertile land and it is considered as one of the progressive farming communities under Mongar Dzongkhag.

Maize is the main staple and grown as major cereal crops. Mustard, wheat, barley, millet and paddy are also grown. Potato is the principal cash crop in the gewog. Majority of Chaskhar population derive cash income from livestock.

Chaskhar has 1 Basic Health Unit (BHU) and 4 Out Reach Clinics (ORC) to render health services in the gewog. Over 77% of the households have access to piped drinking water supply.

The gewog has one Primary School and one Community Pry. School with over 364 students. Eleven kilometer feeder road connects the gewog to Mongar-Trashigang highway.

The Geog has 10 important Lhakhangs, namely, Yakdue Lhakhang, Kadam Lhakhang, Dungkar Choling Lhakhang, 2 other Lhakhangs, Phendecheling Lhakhang, Tongtongma Lhakhang, Serphukpa Lhakhang, and Zangdog Pelri Lhakhang.
