Silambi Gewog

Silambi gewog consists of 311 households covering an area of about 289 square kilometers and has a population of about 1458. Silambi is also one of the under-developed and remotest gewogs under Mongar Dzongkhag. The gewog has no motorable roads and take about four days on foot from the Dzongkhag headquarters. People derive livelihood from dry land farming and Tseri cultivation. Due to lack of access to adequate farm inputs and farm roads, farm productivity and crop yield is low. As a result, Silambi remains one of the food insure areas in the country. One Basic Health Unit (BHU) and one Out Reach Clinic (ORC) render basic health services in the gewog. There are two Community PS and one Lower Secondary Schools with over 366 students (as per 2006 records). About 65% of the households have access to piped drinking water supply.
