Shemung Gewog


Sherimung gewog consists of seven villages with 383 households, covering an area of about 302 square kilometer. Sherimung was bifurcated from Ngatshang gewog during the Eight Plan. The Geog has a population of about 1830. Maize is the main cereal crop in the gewog. Paddy and barley are also grown but on limited scale. Orange and some mangoes are grown for cash income. Sherimung is connected to the East-west highway by a 10-kilometer feeder road. The gewog has three community schools with about 323 children. One Basic Health Unit (BHU) and three Out Reach Clinics (ORC) render basic health services in the gewog. Over 78% of the population has access to piped drinking water supply. The gewog also has one Agriculture Extension Center which provides agricultural extension services in the gewog.

The geog has 11 Lhakhangs, namely, Kuengarabtenling Lhakhang, Dechendrupei Gatshel Lhakhang, Zhabjethang Lhakhang, Riling Lhakhang, Bome Lhakhang and six other Lhakhangs.
